MXC is an American comedy television program that aired on Spike TV from 2003 to 2007. It is a re-edit of footage from the Japanese game show Takeshi's Castle which originally aired in Japan from 1986 to 1990. The re-edit created a new completely rewritten storyline, and new characters as a dub was added that centered on the game show hosts narrating the action as people tried to win points for their teams by surviving through different challenges. In the original program Takeshi's Castle, the characters Kenny and Vic are actually a count named Takeshi and his assistant creating challenges in order to fight off an opposing military leader and his troops. MXC was created and produced by RC Entertainment, Inc. in Los Angeles, California, and is the property of both Tokyo Broadcasting System and RC Entertainment. The special episode Almost Live is the property of Viacom International, which was filmed in the United States by the producers of MXC. In addition to this, MXC's distributor is Magnolia Home Entertainment. For the first two seasons, MXC was an initialism for the show's former title: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. Early commercials in 2003 promoted the show as just Most Extreme Elimination with the initials MXE.

At the start of the week, one of the contestants was selected at random to be the king of the hill. This player stood at a podium facing the other 15 players who represented the numbers 1-15 which each had a dollar value and a riddle. Before the game begins, host Geoff Edwards goes to the big board and reveals what the Super Jackpot is worth. The Super Jackpot is determined by two numbers: One which is a random value between 10 and 1000, and the second is what the number is multiplied by, which was between 1 and 50. A team of six strangers enter The Crystal Maze. These contestants are led through four themed zones by the eccentric host. Within each zone are a number of rooms, each containing some kind of game, puzzle, challenge or test. The team must choose one of their members to take on a challenge selected by the host. If they succeed they win a time crystal, if they fail they either leave empty handed or are locked in the room - requiring the team to expend a crystal to buy them out. Each time crystal is worth 5 seconds in the grand finale in which the contestants enter the Crystal Dome. There they get exactly as much time as they have won to gather as many gold colored foil tickets and as few silver ones as possible. This portion of the game results in a total dollar amount, that amount must be positive in order to move forward. The second portion of the game involves one of the two contestants going into isolation. Round two starts with two green balls, and two red balls. The player in isolation answers questions under stressful situations to determine the color assigned to the remaining balls. Up to six balls can be earned by answering 3 questions. The dollar amount earned in round one is added to whatever is earned in round 2.
